SVFAB measures the balance of public broadcasting programs — not the quality of individual journalists. Our goal is not accusation, but transparency. We believe: Good journalism deserves to be made visible.
What we offer you
Strengths Portrait
Our data shows not only where programs fail to meet their legal mandate — they also show where they fulfill it particularly well. For hosts of individual programs — such as political talk shows or news programmes — we have already produced and personally delivered such strength portraits. This offer is open to journalists at any public broadcaster we analyze.
Upon request, we create data-based analyses — focused on strengths — for broadcasts across all 145 countries in our corpus.
Transparency instead of confrontation
We measure compliance with a legal mandate — according to criteria that are based on the legal programming mandate — legally compliant, scientifically validated, internationally applicable. The responsibility for structural imbalances lies with the system, not with individual persons.
We invite editorial offices and media professionals to get to know our data and methodology. We are convinced: Those who measure can improve.
