Open SVFAB

Since 2021, SVFAB has been systematically analysing public service media across twelve countries — for balance, omission bias and compliance with their legal mandate. The data pool comprises over 100,000 broadcasts. The methodology operationalises 17 documented bias dimensions, anchored in published primary sources.

With Open SVFAB, we are gradually releasing this methodology for scientific review and further development.

Early Research Access

Qualified researchers can request access to the full methodology package:

• Scoring protocol (17 bias dimensions, thresholds, guidelines)
• Prompt architecture (three-stage analysis process, cross-validation)
• Annotated corpus samples (analysed broadcasts as reference)
• Source traffic light system and methodology report

Access is granted through a Research Access Agreement (RAA) — for academic research, publication and teaching.

Governance

The methodology is developed further by a Technical Steering Committee. The governance structure incorporates lessons from open-source history — from licensing to succession planning. The foundation document (v1.1, 28 articles + CLA) is available on request.
